Responsible visitor charter for our self catering cottages

Social and environmental sustainability are at the heart of our philosophy. We are working hard creating eco friendly holidays, and we promote environmental good practice wherever we can at South Wales holiday cottages.

We need your help at our South Wales holiday cottages!

We can all reduce our impact on the environment at our self catering accommodation by making choices. As our guest you have a very important role to play in helping us to conserve our natural assets and become a more eco friendly retreat. Here are our recommended tips on how you can help preserve the things that makes Wales such a special destination:

Conserve energy

Have you spotted our solar panels on your visit, installed to offset our energy use? With our LED energy efficient lights, timer switches and so much more, we’re doing our bit to reduce our energy usage. At your accommodation, please switch off the lights when they are not required and close windows if the heating is on. Why not charge your phone for free in your car?

Be water wise

We’ve installed dual flush toilets and low water usage appliances to reduce our water use. You can help by turning off the tap when brushing your teeth and using water sparingly when taking a shower. Using the dishwasher will use less water than washing by hand!

Reduce, reuse, recycle

In your apartment you’ll find handy recycling bins tucked away! Help us to reduce our waste and recycle more by minimising the rubbish you put in our main bins. Not sure if something is recyclable? We are more than happy to help and know what items we can successfully reuse or recycle.

Please help us by avoiding over-packaged goods and saying “no thanks!” to that extra carrier bag.

You won’t find single use water bottles here at Cambrian Cottages! Our water is perfectly safe to drink and we encourage guests to bring reusable water bottles to help reduce waste and help us to eliminate unnecessary water usage. We’ve provided reusable food containers for you to use when packing your snacks and lunch!

Respect nature

Help us to look after the landscape and wildlife by not littering, guarding against fire and using footpaths and cycle-ways responsibly. If you go off the beaten track, please leave no trace and follow the Countryside Code.

Please respect, protect and enjoy your Wales experience!

Give the car a rest

Whenever possible we would encourage our guests to leave their cars behind, if only for a day. Why not walk, cycle, use public transport or any other low carbon transport options to reduce your carbon footprint!

Using an electric or hybrid vehicle to get to us? Did you know that we have electric vehicle charging points for your use! You don’t need to worry about finding somewhere to charge up as we’ve got you covered.

Bringing your bikes with you on your trip? Why not take advantage of our bike wash area! If you’re getting muddy on the tracks, you can just ride by and find everything you need to clean your bike down. We’ve even got secure bike storage for those days when you don’t fancy traveling on two wheels.

There’s plenty of activities nearby to keep you entertained if you’re visiting us for a getaway!

Contribute to the local economy

Looking for some supplies for your weekend break? Why not head into the nearby villages and visit some local stores! We’ve got everything you need to make your stay a tasty and memorable one.

Shop local, eat local and meet the locals - might mean avoiding supermarkets in favour of smaller stores or buying local products to bring on your trip . If you can afford it, make sure you eat at our fabulous local restaurants and pubs.

Stay longer and really explore our landscapes, nature and culture on your eco friendly holidays - beat the crowds and travel out of season.
