Before you arrive

How many dogs can stay?

Up to two dogs are welcome at a cost of £20 per dog per stay. If you have more than two dogs, please get in touch before booking and we'll do our best to help.

What should we bring?

Please bring your dog's bed, bowls, towels and food. Familiar items will help them settle in quickly and feel right at home.

Do you accept all breeds?

We welcome all breeds, provided they are fully house trained — with the exception of those listed under the Dangerous Dogs Act and other prohibited breeds.

Do our dogs need to be vaccinated?

Yes — all visiting dogs must be up to date with their vaccinations and flea and worming treatments.

During your stay

Are dogs allowed on the furniture?

We ask that dogs are kept off beds and furniture so the cottages remain fresh and comfortable for all our guests — thank you for understanding.

Can I leave my dog alone in the cottage?

We ask that dogs aren't left unattended, as being alone in an unfamiliar place can cause anxiety, barking or accidental damage. If you need pet-sitting arrangements during your stay, we're happy to help with recommendations.

What if my dog causes damage?

Guests are responsible for any damage or additional cleaning costs, so we'd recommend arranging holiday insurance before you travel.

Is the garden secure?

The gardens at Y Llofft Wair and Y Llofft Stabl are enclosed. We'd still ask you to keep an eye on your dog when outside, and to keep them on a lead when exploring the wider grounds.

What about cleaning up?

Please clean up after your dog throughout the stay — we've provided dedicated dog waste bins right outside each cottage.

What if we come home with a wet or muddy dog?

No problem at all. We have a hose and shower attachment outside for just that reason. A heated drying room is also available for muddy coats, boots and towels — just ask if you need extra dog towels.

Where can we walk from the property?

You're welcome to explore our five acres of land (please keep dogs on a lead out of courtesy to other guests). You can also head out directly from the doorstep via the footpath across our land, or follow the quiet single-track lane up to Brechfa Forest. The adjacent land is usually free of livestock, but please follow the Countryside Code and keep dogs on a lead when grazing animals are present.

Where are the best dog-friendly beaches?

You're spoilt for choice. Beaches such as Poppit Sands, Aberporth and Llansteffan all offer year-round access, and the spectacular Wales coastline means windswept seaside walks whatever the season. For a full list of beaches and any seasonal access restrictions, see the UK Dog-Friendly Beach Guide.

Where are the best dog walks nearby?

Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire offer some of Wales's finest walking country. Highlights include the 18,000 acres of Brechfa Forest right on our doorstep and the wild open landscape of Llanllwni Mountain. See our local area guide for full details and trail recommendations.

Still have questions?

We've put a lot of thought into making Cambrian Cottages a place where dogs are truly at home. If you have any questions about your pet's stay, or ideas for how we can make your holiday even better, we'd love to hear from you.

The local area

Are there dog-friendly attractions nearby?

Plenty. The National Botanic Garden of Wales, Dolaucothi Gold Mines and Llanerchaeron are all great days out with a dog in tow. See our local area guide for more ideas.

Where can we buy dog food locally?

Pets at Home, Tesco and Morrisons in Carmarthen, Sainsbury's in Lampeter and CK's in Llandysul all stock a wide range of well-known brands. Cymru Pet Supplies in Carmarthen also offers a broad selection of wet and dry food and other pet essentials.

What if our dog needs a vet?

Tysul Vets in Llandysul come highly recommended and offer a 24-hour on-call service. You can reach them on 01559 363318.
