Our location

Cambrian Cottages is well placed for exploring rural Carmarthenshire, with both the north and south coast beaches within around 40 minutes. Located in Gwyddgrug near Pencader, just half a mile from the A485, the property is easily accessible from the M4 and A48. A Touchstay visitor guide is provided to help guests make the most of the Carmarthenshire area and plan local activities during their stay.

Our partners

Cambrian Cottages is developing partnerships with local providers to offer guests a selection of bookable West Wales experiences. These include coastal foraging, blacksmithing and weaving courses, guided walks, stargazing, and on-site foraging, fire-lighting and outdoor cooking.

The apartments are self-catering, with a range of pubs and restaurants serving Welsh food within around 30 minutes. Private dining can also be arranged with a local chef.

Our site

The apartments are set within five acres of farmland with views towards Llanllwni mountain, Brechfa wind farm and the distant Preseli Hills. Guests are welcome to explore the site and can also use the seating area beside the Afon Gorwydd, which runs through the bottom of the valley.

There is ample parking for at least six cars, with space for minibuses, and a shared 7.2kW EV charging point is available at additional cost.

Sustainability

Sustainability is central to the business. Cambrian Cottages holds Green Tourism Gold Award accreditation and was the winner of the 2025 National Tourism Awards for Wales 'Bro a Byd' Sustainability Award.

Remote working and shared facilities

Cambrian Cottages comprises three eco-friendly self-catering apartments within a restored Victorian barn. Carefully converted from former agricultural buildings, the apartments retain their original character while offering comfortable, well-equipped accommodation for short breaks and longer stays.

Each apartment is finished to a high standard and includes:

• Shared EV charging

• Free Wi-Fi

• Dogs welcome by arrangement

• Fully equipped kitchen with induction hob, oven, fridge, microwave, dishwasher, kettle, toaster and complimentary welcome pack

• Large walk-in shower with towels and toiletries provided

Y Llofft Wair

Y Llofft Wair, the Hayloft, is a 65m2 two-bedroom ground-floor apartment sleeping up to four guests. It is particularly well suited to families with children and guests who prefer ground-floor accommodation.

Y Llofft Stabl

Y Llofft Stabl, the Stable Loft, is an 80m2 two-bedroom first-floor apartment sleeping up to four guests. Slightly larger than Y Llofft Wair, it is well suited to adults, older children, friends or small families. Located above Y Cwt Mochyn, it is best suited to considerate guests seeking a peaceful countryside stay.

Y Cwt Mochyn

Y Cwt Mochyn, the Pigsty, is a 37m2 one-bedroom dog-friendly apartment sleeping up to two guests. It is best suited to couples looking for a smaller self-catering base in a peaceful rural setting.

Remote working is supported across the property, with tables, power points and 4G Wi-Fi available throughout the apartments. Mobile coverage is generally good on most networks, and guests can also make Wi-Fi or Zoom calls from each apartment.

The apartments can be booked individually or together, sleeping up to 10 guests in total. Shared facilities include:

• Guest laundry area available at additional cost

• Secure bike storage in a lockable section of the barn

• Drying area for wet clothes and boots

• Hose-down area for bikes, dogs and outdoor gear

• Large open-plan kitchen, dining and living area

• Wood-burning stove
