Winner of the 2025 National Tourism Awards for Wales 'Bro a Byd' Sustainability Award

The Professional Association of Self-Caterers (PASC UK), the largest trade association in the self-catering sector representing over 2,500 members across the United Kingdom, has awarded us the title of 'Rising Star of the Great British Holiday - Cymru 2026'.

This award honours businesses that bring new ideas to the self-catering sector. It recognises creativity, quality, and a true commitment to building a sustainable business from the ground up. As an operator that started trading after 2023, we were required to demonstrate innovation, an outstanding guest experience, and a measurable positive contribution to the visitor economy in our local area.

The judges said:

"Cambrian Cottages has quickly established itself as a leader in sustainable self-catering, transforming a Victorian barn into three luxury eco-apartments that prove environmental responsibility and exceptional quality go hand in hand. Every aspect of the business, from renewable energy and EV charging to local products and thoughtful guest experiences, has been designed around sustainability without compromising comfort.

In just over two years, and against a challenging backdrop, the family-run business has earned national recognition, including the 2025 National Tourism Awards for Wales Sustainability Award and Green Tourism Gold. Outstanding guest reviews, a warm personal welcome and a strong commitment to supporting the local visitor economy have made Cambrian Cottages a true rising star in Welsh tourism."

Winner of the Carmarthenshire Tourism Association 2024 'Best Self Catering' Award

In October 2024, we were delighted to receive the 2024 Carmarthenshire Tourism Association 'Best Self Catering' Award for our holiday accommodation.

This award focused on "best in class." Our award-winning self-catering in Wales stood out for providing a unique and memorable experience, alongside a strong commitment to excellent service and improving the visitor experience.

This award recognises tourism and hospitality businesses that excel in environmental sustainability, ethical practices, and community responsibility. The name 'Bro a Byd' comes from the idea that Wales can shine when local connects with global in a genuine, creative, and vibrant way. It celebrates businesses that reduce their carbon footprint and use renewable energy, source local produce and protect natural habitats, and promote Welsh heritage and language to visitors.

Our sustainable holiday accommodation in Wales received this award for our work reducing our environmental impact through eco-friendly practices, cutting waste, saving energy, and supporting sustainable tourism. To win, we demonstrated innovative sustainability, community engagement, and customer education, with clear proof of carbon reductions and our dedication to sustainable tourism. We showed:

• How we go the extra mile to provide a memorable experience for our guests

• The steps we've taken to make our business more environmentally sustainable

• The investment we've made in staff training

• How we make Cambrian Cottages welcoming and inclusive, by embracing diversity, providing accessible facilities for all our guests, training our staff to be friendly and helpful to everyone, listening to feedback to improve our services, and promoting an inclusive culture in all our activities

• How we've incorporated a sense of place into our business

• The innovations we've introduced to improve our business performance

We're also proud that our luxury econ apartments in Wales have won the regional and Carmarthenshire awards in the 'Bro a Byd' category:

This scheme offers online training to improve knowledge of Carmarthenshire's tourism offer, covering its beautiful landscapes, outdoor activities, lively culture, and rich heritage.

We've completed the Bronze, Silver, and Gold Awards, which lets us play a key role in enhancing the visitor experience.

Green Tourism 'Gold Award'

A Green Tourism Award is a global certification for sustainability in travel and hospitality. It shows that a venue, like our self-catering property, reduces its environmental impact and helps local communities. Certified businesses receive a Bronze, Silver, or Gold rating, based on a standard covering around 150 questions across people, places, and planet goals, each requiring detailed evidence.

We received the Green Tourism Gold Award in March 2025. The assessors said about our Green Tourism Gold accredited holiday accommodation that they were "very impressed with the progress that we had made with our business in the time that we have been running."
